Top Gear Crowns the Toyota GT86 as the Car of the Year 2012

Big news, although not surprising, Top Gear have named the Toyota GT86 as their car of the year 2012.

Celebrations All Round As RMB Toyota Stockton Deliver the First GT86

We always knew that the Toyota GT86 was something special when Toyota first announced the launch of the new sports car. On reading review after review, our excitement just intensified which all but rocketed when were given the chance to test drive the GT86 at Donnington Race Circuit in July 2012. (Read more).

So when the day came to hand over the keys to our first GT86 customer, we were like kids at Christmas, overly excited about the collection of the beautiful sports machine.

Our first customer of the GT86 was Susan Wilson, who was already a customer of RMB Toyota Stockton, and a very proud owner of a MR2. However, on the news that Toyota was launching a brand new sports car, like us, the idea well and truly nabbed her attention.

Within weeks of the multiple reviews rolling out online, Susan began trolling through the content, helping her reach the decision to migrate from her beloved MR2 to the feisty GT86.

Here’s a photo of Susan on the day she collected her car with our centre manager Nick Leech, who with gritted teeth and a smile – handed over the keys to Sue.

Nick (pictured on the left) was really pleased, commenting on the day: “we are really delighted Susan has chosen the GT86 after much research and reading of reviews. We know she had a great deal of driving pleasure in her MR2 and I know she is looking forward to many miles of fun in her new GT86!”.
